March Events By Date

Plan to attend community review meetings of newly developed curriculum which are being held throughout the state during the last two weeks of March. Your input is extremely important. Show up early and sign up to speak at the meetings. Support the standards and talk about the importance of academics. Now, if ever, is the time for action!

        Thursday, March 13: Senate Education Committee meets in Room 15 of the Capitol. Sen. Steve Kelley is the chair. Time: 3:30 p.m.; Agenda: Social studies standards.

        Thursday, March 13: Public Hearings on Academic Standards in Winona: Winona High School, 1570 Homer Road  Location: Commons area. Time: 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.

        Friday, March 14: Public Hearings on Academic Standards in Austin: Austin High School, 301 3rd Street N.W.. Location: Auditorium. Time: 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.

        Saturday, March 15: Public Hearings on Academic Standards in Rochester: Century High School, 2525 Viola Rd NE. Location: Auditorium. Time: 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

        Monday, March 17: Public Hearings on Academic Standards in Duluth: 215 N 1st Ave E Location: School board meeting room. Time: 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

        Tuesday, March 18: Public Hearings on Academic Standards in Eveleth-Gilbert: Senior High School, 801 Jones Location: Boardman Auditorium Time: 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

        Sunday, March 2: Presentation by Bob Frey: Worldviews & Violence Prevention Worldviews controversy, Education, and social impact.

        March 5: "Education Wednesday" with Joyce Harley on AM 980 KKMS

        March 6: Michael Chapman presents "How 'No Child Left Behind' Continues the Radical Restructuring of Education," at Martin Luther High school in Northrop, (6 miles north of Fairmont). The meeting begins at 7:00 pm and is open to the public. For directions call the school at 507-436-5249.
