2007 MN Session Report:
Mandated Comprehensive Sex Education Fails
The requirement for all districts to teach graphic and unhealthy sexual curriculum every year from 7th to 12th grade that promotes promiscuity and homosexuality to students was removed from the final bill. (See " Comprehensive Sex Ed Violates Our Children.") Public opposition to this was strong, and the Governor threatened to veto the entire bill if it was included. He deserves our thanks. However, the push for this next year is expected. (ì Comprehensiveî Sex Education is Ineffective: Abstinence Works, Major National Study Shows")
The public spotlight on comprehensive sex education revealed its current implementation already in many districts today, sometimes beginning as young as kindergarten. Every parent should investigate the sex education/health curriculum in their child's school. Outside groups such as the West Suburban Teen Clinic often conduct the class.
